چکیده

For the purpose of inducing the specific tolerance by bone marrow trans plantation, the PHA non-responding cells out of the bone marrow cells were trans planted to mongrel dogs in order to avoid the acute graft-versus-host reaction after conditioning the animals with cyclophosphamide. And nine out of 13 mongrel dogs survived under the condition of successfully established chimerism. The mixed lymphocyte culture between donor and recipient showed no response after chimerism had been established, while chimera dogs responded normally against heterologous antigens. However, the phenomenon that the degree of donor cell occupancy decreased as time went by forced us to consider the existence of immunological reaction of recipient to donor cells.

Application of irradiation as an immunosuppressive agent.

The concept of using total lymphoid irradiation (TLI) for immunosuppression is based on the prolonged and profound immunosuppressive effects observed after TLI in the treatment of patients with Hodgkin's disease. Pre-operative TLI of allograft recipients has been shown to be immunosuppressive when used alone or together with chemical immunosuppression. Fractionated TLI and allogeneic bone marro...

Comparison of fractionated to single-dose total body irradiation in conditioning canine littermates for DLA-identical marrow grafts.

We explored the ability of fractionated total body irradiation (TBI) given at a rate of 7 cGy/min from opposing dual 60Co sources at otherwise lethal doses of 450, 600, 700, 800, and 920 cGy to condition dogs for marrow grafts from DLA-identical littermates. Results were compared with those of a previously reported study using single-dose TBI administered under otherwise identical conditions. F...

Objectives- To assess the ectopic bone formation in canine masseter muscle following the implantation of the natural bovine bone minerals (NBM) loaded with canine mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).Design- Experimental study.Animals- four mongrel dogs.Procedures- Tripotent MSCs isolated from the canine bone marrow were loaded onto the NBM sponges and allowed to adhere. The cell-loaded scaffolds were...

Bone marrow stromal cells and their application in neural injuries

Background: This article reviews experimental and clinical studies in which neural injuries repaired with bone marrow stromal cells. History: Bone marrow contains two kinds of stem cells: hematopoietic and nonhematopoietic (stromal) stem cell. In vitro studies indicate that bone marrow stromal cells have the capacity of differentiation into other cells (such as neural cell) under treatment wit...

Novikova MN, Nemenova NM, Malanina VN: Hematopoiesis in long-term survival following supralethal irradiation and bone marrow transplantation in dogs.

B ONE MARROW TRANSPLANTATION may effectively protect dogs exposed to whole-body ionizing radiations of 2 to 3 LD95. Hematopoiesis was investigated at remote periods after the exposure, when the hematopoietic stem cells had been proliferating in the lethally irradiated organism for a long time. Ferrebee and his associates’6 succeeded in attaining long-term survival of supralethally irradiated do...
